FEATURED PROJECTS
A selection of immersive environments and installations conceived, designed, and directed for the Portland Art Museum. Each project merges floral sculpture, spatial concepting, performance, and atmospheric storytelling into a fully realized world. These are intentional spaces—anchored in vision, led by concept, and executed with precision by JANEJUSTJANE.
PORTLAND ART MUSEUM
Africa fashion //
exhibition opening & gala
As Creative Director and Art Director for the Portland Art Museum’s Africa Fashion Exhibition Gala, I crafted the full evening experience—from concept to execution. The centerpiece installation featured a suspended floral sculpture made from over 4,000 stems of baby’s breath, hovering above styled tablescapes, intentionally selected flatware and seating, and a live performance. Every sensory detail was chosen to honor legacy, softness, and celebration.
The room itself became an atmospheric landscape: a lighting story that evoked the arc of dusk in the Sahara, fading from orange and red to fuchsia pink and midnight blue as the evening unfolded. A stage-spanning image of the floral chandelier—fabricated under my creative and art direction—served as a final visual echo of the piece. Together, these elements shaped an immersive tribute to lineage, radiance, and ritual.
PAM CUT X PORTLAND ART MUSEUM
CINEMA UNBOUND AWARDS 2024 // immersive installation design
For the Portland Art Museum’s Cinema Unbound Awards, I was brought on as Creative Director to reimagine the event’s spatial and atmospheric identity. I developed the full concept and designed every installation—from lighting and layout to original art pieces. Drawing inspiration from Akira, The Fifth Element, and hyper-stylized futurism, I crafted a maximalist environment pulsing with color, movement, and meaning.
The space featured a chandelier of Sonic-the-Hedgehog-style peony rings, a paper-lantern bubble spill from a washing machine, and custom Sasquatch mannequins in fluorescent fur. I created a towering teddy bear monster sculpture, a haunted vintage TV wall looping surreal eyeball visuals, and a Pepper’s ghost illusion with the PAM CUT logo. At the heart of the experience was a signature motif: the eyeball. I designed custom vinyls for the elevator, outfitted dancers in glowing eyeball masks to act as wayfinders, and seeded the aesthetic across invite boards—sparking guest looks that echoed the theme with eyeball purses, rings, and shoes.
Every element was conceived, built, and installed by me—an immersive fever dream, designed to be felt in the body as much as seen.
